Little question...........

I've got this question... I'm working in FL Studio and I want to expand my studio with a hardware sampler. Now, my question is.. Can I hook up a sampler in FL Studio??
Thanks in advance,

Peter

depends on what you mean by hook up.

If you mean, fruity must pump notes into the sampler, yes that's easy.

Note though that fruity has no latency compensation, so if you use outboard sound generators in conjunction with softsynths, you better have minimal latency (i.e. if you have 100 ms latency, the midi will get transfered immediately, leaving the softstuff lagging behind)

anyway, I've got like 7 ms latency, and I use soft & hard together through fruity.

Yup.. should be no problem, just make a "midi out" channel.. and write the notes you want your hardware sequencer to play.. and make sure you have a midi cable running from your soundcard midi out to the sequencer midi in.

2nd.. run the line out 1/4 cables from the sequencer to your Line in on your soundcard..

Go to the fruity mixer.. pick a channel and at the bottom click the dropdown box "IN" and choose Line in 1 or whatever is applicable to your soundcard.

you will then need to click the small disk button on the mixer in the lower right corner.

you should then be able to click the big record button on the main fruity window and fruity will send the notes out to the sequencer.. which iwll play them back and fruity will then record you that loop as a wav file which will appear as a Audio track immediatly after the loop or section is finshed.

Note : you will need to mute the Line in on your soundcards internal mixer otherwise you will hear the soundtwice with a slight delay.. once from the interal soundcard mixer and again from fruity.

And the previous poster is correct is saying.. if you dont have a card that can get a decent latetcy in the first place.. dont bother with hardware..
