I build those 1/24 scale plastic models as a hobby when i'm bored and sick of the internet and have an assignment due soon, and I can tell you that the satisfaction of spending a lot of time on one to have it sit looking so fucking realistic on your shelf is immense.
Plus, if you try, you can get amazing results with plastic - people mod the shit out of the stock cars that come in the boxes. Don't believe me? Just check out some of the threads in this forum:
