not too sure where prices are headed, some stuff on audiojelly is up to GBP 2.40 per track. that's more for a download than you pay for a single with 5 mixes on it in store. Sure, you can't find as good a range in stores, but with prices going nuts, people are going to go straight back to sharing these tracks, and download services will lose money.
Keeping prices under 2 pounds a track makes it good value. I can't see artists not doing ok out of this, it's still a lot more per track, with far less costs involved. If artists still aren't happy they can run their own service directly.
twas fun last week having some friends over to spin for a bit, they raved about some new tune. Within 5 minutes we'd found it at beatport, bought, d/l'd, burnt and were playing it. very convenient.
