New mixer/Difficulties

I just purchased a new mixer and I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have.

My old mixer is a Numark DXM-06, which I love. There is nothing wrong with it; I had just been thinking for a while that it would be nice to have a 4/5 channel mixer. And I really have been extremely happy with this mixer so, I thought I'd try the Numark 5000fx. So I bought it and it really is pretty sweet, loaded with effects, sampler, nice layout and nice sound. BUT I CAN'T FUCKING MIX WITH IT!

I dunno what the hell it is but i seemed to mix decent with it for the first 2 days and then after that I turned into DJ Turdball. So finally after a week and a half i hooked my DXM-06 back up and *voila* mixng like a champ again. WTF!

Have any of you guys experienced anything like this? Moving to a different mixer and experiencing initial difficulties? I'm guessing that some of it has to do with going from digital to analog and the cue system is a little different but, it seems I'd have gotten ahold of it by now.

Am i going mental?!@?!

You are already there.

Practice practice practice. im like immune to mixer/tt changes as ive been forced to mix on everything at freinds houses, shitty clubs, nice clubs. from behringer to pioneer.. etc.

you just need more time on it and i suggest going over to peoples hoses and using their shit as well. mix on anything and everything.

Word!

yeah, i really don't have much (any) experience on other stuff. It's a big ego check to have your mixing go to shit like that though, I was UPSET for a few days. I suppose I'll plug it back in tomorrow night and piss about on it this weekend. Hopefully will get the hang of it soon so I can move on to all the other shit on there.

I thought about the X-9 too and the DNX-1500 as well. I went with the 5000fx because I liked the DXM-06 so well. It was a tough choice though as I never had a chance to play with these mixers before making the purchase, they were all special order. I decided against the X-9 because I heard that it is a difficult layout to get used to but, nonetheless an awesome mixer.

The good thing is that i have 30 days to exchange if I think i may like one of the others better.

When will you get it? I want to hear some of your good stuff/bad stuff about it, as i still have a couple weeks to trade in the 5000fx if i decide to. The only thing that concerned me about the DNX was the supposed fader lag.

Let me know if you get a chance.

Ive read a few reviews on the board about the DNX, and all of them have been good and the owners enjoy it.
