Red face An ill and childish nation

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...5100901381.html

In the city where I live (Washington DC) there was a big festival today praising... Jesus.

"God rocks" and "I love Jesus?" stickers -- is this the idea of religion that these childish idiots have???

Well, I don't personally subscribe to any religion per se - but I'm very spiritual and honestly feel that there was once a place and time for all religions.

For all I know, Jesus could have been the son of God and sure he could have been sent to save us from sin - but his story has been so re-written over time (as have most if not all Biblical accounts) by the imperfect and opportunistically partisan hand of man, that it would be hard to believe that things weren't changed to serve the corrupt church's agenda. If any Biblical accounts are to be believed, I think it would be the original Coptic texts before they were translated and re-translated by the multitudes.

In saying this, however, I also have to admit that I do fancy reading current translations of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi texts. I don't accept them as gosphel, but I do incorporate parts of their knowledge into my own personal belief system which first and foremost acknowledges the fact that we are a fallible species that tends to assert our perceptions as fact before we even bother to collect evidence to the contrary.
