Paul van Dyk & Edgar V @ Space 11-4-05 Review + pics
It's 8:05 in the morning and I just came back from the most INSANE night ever.
I picked up ambs and headed to Space, where she got our presale tickets in the upstairs office. This time there was no real line to wait in for entrance to the club, just the relocated will call. We got in right away and Edgar was playing his more housier set. As always he got the crowd moving. Mel and Lis went out of their minds when Naline & Kane - Open Your Eyes (Markus Schulz & Elevation remix) came on. A tune I was rather not bothered by...until later...was MURK - Dark Beat (Southside remix??) Edgar also played 2 of Arturo's tracks. Great work my friend. The crowd was really loving them!
And finally...the newly crowned #1 DJ in the world came into the booth and waved. These were all songs few or none of us recognized, but here are the ones we COULD ID:
U2 - Where the Streets have no name (NU NRG remix)
Enmass - So Please
Second Sun - Playground (NU NRG remix)
^Holy fuckin' SHIT I can't believe he played these two.
Wolfsheim - Wundervoll (Blank and Jones remix/PVD edit)
^me, Damon & Felipe were going berserk in the 2nd floor when this came on.
Mr. Sam - Lyteo (Rank 1 remix)
^Mel IDd this one before me. Great job, lil sis!
The track selection, minus 1 song was top notch, and that song was PVD - Time of our lives (What's worse, it was the fuckin' UK mix)
The ONLY major bad thing about the night is that the sound died, and we had nothing but the crowd going for around...2, 3 minutes? PVD didn't seem to know what happened (Edgar or Art, can you guys fill us in on what happened?) But soon enough, PVD got the sound back and restarted his set. And he just laid it out NASTY but SO good. Nothing but energy from beginning to end. Crowd going insane. Tonight there wasn't much of a TA turnout which was VERY unusual, but let it be said (and I apologize in advance, Colleen and Amy) that if you missed this set @ Space, you missed one of the best (if not THE BEST) PVD set ever. He showed no mercy and took no prisoners. I had an absolute GREAT time. Many, many thanks to ambs for getting me my ticket. Great seeing Damon, Art, Flo, Karen, Lis, Anthony, VADE (don't know your real name dude), Ivan, Felipe, Mike, Jasin, Natalia, Renzo, Al, Adrian. lost_in_forests introduced himself, but I was way too trashed to do any intros. I think Damon introduced me to nftked? Can't remember. My brain is anything but a brain now. but it was fuckin' WORTH it. DA MAN owned Space tonight...the only other time I can recall having THIS much fun at one of his sets was 7/26/02, the VERY FIRST time I ever saw him live. This is the biggest review I have ever written, but I would have it no other way when DA MAN is concerned.
Paul van Dyk
#1 DJ in the world.
And tonight was a prime example of why he deserves that accolade, ladies and gentlemen.
Pics coming before Sunset today.
SALUD.
