I think I'd like to have one of these.

Hey. I was working on picking out some components for a few new FX I'm designing and ran across this . I'm doubting synths (or thier technical term in this case, function generators) get much higher quality than this . If anyone wants to dump one of these off because you... dont use it anymore, I'd be willing to take it for a nice price of $0, or half price, whichever you feel is more fair :P.

Cheers,
Zac

LOL, we used one model below that one in the Power Lab at my university.

I really think that's overkill for audio.

Whao, $8500 for a waveform generator? Or am I missing the point? A bit of overkill as Digi mentioned indeed

Definitely overkill, but that doesnt mean it couldnt be fun just to have :P. When I was looking for a function generator, I was actually looking for an effect that would take the amplitude of an input and use it for modulation. Theres a few out I dunno. If anyone knows a great plugin that does this amazingly, I'd be greatful . Working on making some photoelectric gates and some eltromagnet gates/delays at the moment. Toss me some more crazy ass outboard effects ideas cause I'm starting to run out .

Cheers,
Zac

Can I be a beta tester of your products?

Oh, and how about using sound amplitude and frequency to control LFO?

oh, wait... that's already being done.

hm.. I guess your best bet for source of ideas should be KYMA, NORD MODULAR, or ABSYNTH.

Rock on!

I use this kind of equipment all the time at uni. It's used to appply different form of signals (sine, saw, square .... or saw modulated with sine, and so on) to amplifiers or filters usualy. Then, using another pice of equipment (in romanian we call it "osciloscop") you analize how the signal has been modified by the amplifier (the frequncy range, amplitude, distorsion, time responce,...). Realy, realy expensive toys, but very usefull and precise.

Hey. I've got a hardware function generator lined up. They dont cost a lot as long as you dont care much about the quality of thier output. As for being a beta tester, we'll have to see :P. This kinda stuff is relatively cheap to make but there wont be a lot to debug. The most complex effect I've lined up is a digital gate using this function generator, a positive edge triggered counter programmed into an eeprom and some other general circuitry (pots, resitors all that). For this kind of stuff, debugging is hopefully done before you actually build it . BTW, I like your sig.

Cheers,
Zac
