Go into the fight with 2 characters already dead. Wait for Ruby to stick his arms into the sand. Revive both characters with the Phoenix summon. Then mime Knights of the Round. Repeat the last step as many times as necessary. He shouldn't be too hard.

hi there.

just summon Hades. only he is able to stop/freeze Ruby weapon, just in time for you to summon KofTR, and mime. do this a couple of times and he is yours...

To combine all the tips, this is how I did it.

1) Go into combat with only one character alive
2) Cast Hades and KoTR with W-Summon
3) Repeat this about 6 times with Mime
4) Cast Phoenix with KoTR to bring your characters back
5) Sucess!

Ruby has about 750,000 HP so time the last Phoenix KoTR combo to when you know KoTR will finish Ruby off, say when Ruby has 50-60k HP left.

Then look forward to about 50,000 materia AP points and about 4 levels gains (I was level 80+ when I beat the bastard).

Ruby weapon can't kill my party, just to powerfull.. When i read all this first thing i wanted to do is kill that mob again... as easy as eating pie..

Well he can kill two of them instantly with that quicksand sttack he does, if one member of your party can wipe him out without specially equipping the right materia on him, well done.
