Wanted: guest mixes for my site?

Hey guys

I've decided it'd be quite a cool idea for me to start hosting a guest mix on my site every month. Still yet to decide for certain but the basic idea would be that I'd host one mix on my site for all to download with a little bit of info etc about the DJ each month, stick an item up on the news page and plug it on messageboards to highlight it a bit each time.

A big part of the point of it would be that absolutely any genre/style could be included - quite a lot of the time I'd try to keep away from the kind of thing I play myself and I wouldn't be too worried about the age of the tunes on there or how recently it was recorded... although it's unlikely I'd want to include any classics mixes.

Just wondered if a) you think it's a good idea and b) if any of you might be interested in offering a mix at some point if I was to do this?

I'm planning to redesign my site at some point so I may do it in conjunction with that... not sure yet.

Please e-mail either a link or the mix itself to: [email protected] along with some info about yourself, contact details, tracklist if you like (although not essential) etc

(That's a mailbox I've set up which should be able to deal with a few large files!)

I'm generally looking for about 1 hour long mixes although if I get a couple of half hour mixes I'd like to use then I might put them both up together one month but I might have to draw the line at 90 mins as a maximum length... although if I get a particularly good 2h mix I might decide to use it as a one-off. At least 128kbps quality please, preferably 192k (I'll re-rip to 192k before uploading it if it's higher quality than that, to save space and make it quicker to download)

Obviously I probably won't be able to use every mix I'm offered, although if I don't use a particular mix one month I might decide to use it the next, or the month after or whatever. Just a few tips about the kind of things I'm likely to look for: generally keeping the music varied and the mixing style varied and a little bit original is probably the best advice I can give. Oh, and starting it in a way other than just at the start of a normal 12" inch version of a tune goes a long way too

Sorry to make it sound like I'm throwing down rules , I'm not going to discard anything that doesn't fit what I've just said by any means.

Remember I'm not ruling out ANY genres, even punk/metal or something lol, if it's done well I'll be into it.
