I have recently discovered the Tunnel Trance Force (TTF) series, and after listening to several volumes packed to the maximum, started wondering: 95% of all these tracks are probably unknown to anybody outside of Germany, the artist names are very obscure, and yet there are so many tracks and artists represented on this series that it is astonishing.



So is there a lot of trance vinyl produced in Germany that never really gets known in other countries? I am talking specifically about the melodic trance that is on TTF and tunes of that epic/uplifting style.

On these forums, everyone from other countries always talks about "Gouryella" and "Tiesto" and "Ferry Corsten", and they've never even heard any of the beautiful and excellent tracks from the TTF series (and there are SO MANY of them!). How did that happen?

And if you are an epic/uplifting DJ in Germany, do you have a very big choice of vinyl?

I d/led now some of these TTF CDs and U are right, they are pretty good! I was wondered cuz normally german trance is ... erm ... commercial crap. I always thought TTF is that too, that's why I never took a look on it. But yeah ... it's really not bad, I have to change my mind about it.


To your questions: Yes, I am pretty sure that there are several Vinyls in germany that get not known in other countries. Let's take for example Hiver and Hammer, two germans(!) ... I don't think they are so well known outside germany and austria, but they produce pretty good tracks (rather melodic trance). About epic/uplifting in germany I don't know anything ... but I think there are sometimes some good tracks to hear from germany.

I don't know how it happened, but as I first came here I didn't know Tiesto and Ferry and Gouryella very well ... I had to listen to several tracks of them to find out that they are the best. I only knew the german trance - but not from TTF, I had Future Trance, Dream Dance and others. Maybe germany has its own small world of trance with compilations like TTF, Dream Dance and DJs like Talla 2XLC where the big international scene can't break through so very well? I don't know.

well, the "Tunnel" = the club behind TTF had it's own Trance sound for years. Gary D was the resident for a long time and played VERY fast hardtrance back then. But over the years the music that was released became slower and slower and more commercial, and you can hear that when going through old CDs to the new ones. So the DJs at Tunnel started making their own music and the Tunnel made a records label (with different sub-labels by now), Push-Up Records, Tunnel Records...there are lots of "artists" that release on those labels, but most of the times these are just different project from the same artists. DJ Dean, Shoko, Krid Kid, Hunter, some others are the main artists from the top of my head.
I really don't like the TTF too much anymore, same as D-Trance. The original D-Trance 1-5 featured my favorite music, but it became slow and boring after that. It's not Gary's fault, only the music changed...

Have you ever heard the DJ Networx series ? it's also from the tunnel label but with hardhouse on it. They have released at 7 januari 2002 a new cd DJ Networx 12. It's very good, but the old cd's were better.
