Death toll from road accidents 390 times that from terrorism: study
The body count from road accidents in developed economies is 390 times higher than the death toll in these countries from international terrorism, says a study appearing in a specialist journal, Injury Prevention. In 2001, as many people died every 26 days on American roads as died in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, it says.

I can vouch for this.
I lost control of my Oldsmobile Delta 88 and slammed into a wall at about 45 mph. I was able to walk away with just slight dizzyness.
My van was t-boned by some idiot making a u-turn without looking. The van had only recieved damage to the left front wheel and axle. All occupants walked away.
A brother in law of mine had lent his Honda out to his other brother in law who rear ends someone on NY Route 100 while he was tuning the radio. The car was totaled. Sister in law and husband survive with minor injury.
A friend of mine had his BMW 750IL t-boned in the parking lot of Orchard Beach in the Bronx, NY by some dumb broad who thought that 25mph is ok for a parking lot. Car was repaired and is now driven by his sister while he does his tour in a non-combatant role in Iraq.
I have had friends nearly hit deer on several occasions.
Another friend of mine fell asleep at the wheel and total his Acura.
A former foreman of mine has put his truck into a ditch coming from Pennsylvania on his way to work. He hit black ice he says. This is the only friend I know that has witnessed the terror attacks of 9/11 but was not a victim. He worked near Chambers Street station (it's a few blocks away from WTC) of the J line.
We have yet to be attacked by terrorists.
