Monkey Dancer 2 'Cheese'

I've discovered from reading these forums for a little while, that the music I enjoy is known as 'cheese', which is disliked by probably everyone I've seen on these forums.

Why do people hate it so much?

I've made some threads here, and all I get are insults against the type of music I like. Just wondering if this is only evident on the TA forums, or in the electro scene as a whole.

The first thing you'll want to do is stop referring to the "scene" as the "electro scene", as electro is an entirely different genre.

Secondly, the music you enjoy (going by what's in your sig, which is way too large btw) is probably among other things hated for its elements, such as embarrassing two-finger melodies on simple, crass and in your face-synths and/or ridiculous, overblown bassdrums that contrast sharply (and not in a good way) with silly bubblegum lyrics that are usually stolen from some 80s ballad.

I might be completely wrong here, but I've listened to pretty much all of the "artists" you name on your signature, and their productions I would describe as "simpler" musically. Coming from a pretty deep musical background, there are just a lot of nuances and subtleties of good composition that I don't find in this style of music.

But the important thing is that you like it. Because you don't have to like it just because I and several others here don't find it as "sophisticated" things we listen to.

In fact, some of the music I listen to I have european friends telling me all the time that it is dead or somehow inferior to their music. It's all relative.

yea for sure i can understand the music is 'simpler', but thats what i like.. it also gives me a 'rush', when i hear a nice tune over a great bass

but then again, sometimes the simple things are best ;p

i mean, i like stuff like dumonde or other artists, which could be classed as less simple, but even then people are saying they like dumondes older stuff better, as oppose to their songs

Angelic - Can't Keep Me Silent (JamX and De Leons Dumonde Mix)
Dumonde - Never look back

which i really love

agreed, but it just gets to me when people say stuff like, "i think i'll be washing my ears out." or "is this a joke"

Everyone likes at least some cheese, and those people who apparently don't need to shut up and keep their worthless opinions to themselves. Or at least accept that nobody else will ever have the exact same musical tastes as you, nor should they be expected to. Just enjoy what you enjoy.
