dont listen to these guys gasmark...
the main reasons why EDM even isnt big in the USA is heavy law enforcement i.e., drug problems in clubs, cops crackin down on trance parties, house parties et cetera. Reason number two is Americans, as a whole, are into Pop-Culture, whatever their favorite rapper or whiney emo band does, becomes popular with the population.
dance clubs in the US get bad raps for being lions dens for drugs, and obvioously they are, and thats a certain montra that surrounds the underground, so most people in the US would rather get fucked up in a their house.
americans also idealize black culture, making it mainstream music. our radios are spammed with it, making any other forms of music "uncool" or "gay" to club to.
Tiesto isnt the only DJ Americans have no idea about. Unless you're from Cali, Washington, Florida, New York, Texas, Georgia, or Colorado...you've pretty much been sheltered from trance/dance music totally.
thats my 2 cents.
