Cubase and NI Battery

Does anyone use Battery and Cubase sx? I was using an external drum sequencer before for all of my drums but now i'm trying to create my beats using Battery. I've made my first beat with battery and i'm wondering how i record the audio now. I have a midi track for each of the drums and when i opened battery as a vst in cubase it opened up 12 other tracks related to battery. I'm just not sure of what the quick and easy way is record the beat. I'm assuming that all tracks get recorded at once and they each go to their resepective audio tracks. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you want to create a loop, use Battery as the VST instrument on several MIDI tracks (or one, whatever's your preference). Battery maps drums to different notes, starting with C1 by default. To record these, simply do an Audio Mixdown in the file menu to whatever audio format you want. I don't know why yo would do this, however, instead of just keeping the MIDI tracks.

what if i wanted to add effects and eq to different drum sounds? am i better off just keeping it as midi as opposed to audio until the track is ready to be mixed down?

In Battery you can route different samples to different audio channels. It's at the bottom right-hand of the VST's window. After each sample is routed, go to your mixer by tapping F3 while your project window is selected and then scroll to the right. You can apply individual effects/EQ to these audio channels by clicking on the lower-case "e", and label them at the bottom, accordingly. For instance, Hat1, Kick, etc.

If you want to group audio channels, in that same "e" window, in the upper left hand corner you should see where that sample is going (for me the default is ASIO stereo). You can create a new group channel in the project window and then instead of "ASIO" or whatever the default is, change it to the new group channel you just created. Voila. You can filter certain percs and bypass others, or compress the bass and kick simultaneously.

Though you could bounce everything to audio, I prefer to retain the ability to mess with tiny bits of my percs at any time. It gives you more control.
