As promissed, here I am. Send it to a cheasy label! Just walk into the store and find the cheasyest record you can find and write down the adress. I know some guys who would buy it, but would expect to hear it more in an underground club than on any charts.
Nice drive with the double bassline with the grittyness. Might sound nice with one of the off-center. Kind of brings a tribal instint in me and makes me want to hunt something. I think it might be a good idea to always have the two basses playing together, because your kind of giving your game away. I would work this element out and replace some other elements. Because it's the only bit that realy makes it a good track. Sounds very enviting for something rythmic on top.
The whole track is very flat on the bassline and unflat in the lead. It's too much of a contrast to my ears. Choose either rythmic or melodic for this one I reckon. The piano melody in the first section is very standard, if you can find a way to make the piano glide off the last note, or you might pitch shift it into a legato, that would be freaky stuff.
The next thing I would add is a jazzy synth chord on the 8/16th note of the bar. But that's my trademark kind of so keep off :P
I hate the ARP btw, it's terrible! Almost sounds like a FL preset ARP. Not meaning to be harsh.
Well, that's my review. I think you will have mixed reactions to this one i'm afraid. It's kind of two halfs of two worlds mixed into one setting, not enough of either. Christ what a sentence...
kind regards,
Charlie Darwin

Review Latest Track; Charlie Delta - Then The Days Where Long
Music is as universal to people as breathing. We've probably been at it since before we even started talking. Immaging two cavemen smashing away at a peace of flint to make a spearhead. It wouldn't take long for them to learn te synchronise the sound. And there you have it, the words first percussive band.
Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.

Hey.
-Nice driving kick and drum groove at the start. The drop out of the kick around 6s is not needed however. That sort of drop needs to be used for introducing new elements . Its somewhat of a letdown when nothing happens. Introduce the basslien or something. I'd try dropping in a the bassline, but have it filtered low, around 125hz or so and slowly bring it up to full-on where you originally had the bassline start.
-Loose the vox . Not fitting for this piece and unless you are doing crazy, unrecognizable things to the vocals that come with FLS, just avoid them :P.
-I'm likeing the piano and the whole groove of the bassline. Do more with filtering stuff however. Its a bit too repetative. Throw down some phaser on the bassline every so often or something to spice up the mix. Keep people guessing what will happen next .
-I like the break-in for your breakdown. Try filtering throwing a low pass filter over the clap as it fades away.
-I'm likeing the long note bass in the breakdown.
-The break-out needs some work though. While the breakdown was nice, nothing was really introduced when the kick comes back in. I'm not saying be standard but itll add some more listenability to the track.
-The second break is good with the longer enhanced melody. Watch the resonant frequencies ont he piano however. They become apparent in this section for some reason (maybe I jsut didnt notice before...). To fix that, turn down the 500Hz band a bit on your parametric EQ for the piano.
-I really like the bass growl that comes in . Nice effect.
-The arp thats coming in at the moment is good but it clashes with some of the notes with your underlying pad sometimes. Also, the arp instrument needs better EQing. Its way too heavy in the mix. Drop its volume and drop out some of its mids. The goal is transparency, not isntant noticability .
-Good outro. Its nice clean and not overly drawn out.
Overall, this track has some decent potential. Theres quite a few things to work on however that will make this track really stand out. I noticed there wasnt really a single, strong melody that stood out in the song but thats not necessarily a bad thing; just depends on what you were going for. Def finish this up and repost . I'm interested to hear how it turns out.
Grade: B (needs some of work but has some really good potential)
Cheers,
Zac
