Im looking for a good laptop that would work well with ableton live and something I could play some games on 2. Anyone have any suggestions of where to get 1 and its preferable if I can pay monthly for it. Ill probably buy some studio monitors/headphones/USB Soundcard so if anyone can suggest some of those 2 please. I wont be buying any hardware so it will be purely a VST machine.

I have an IBM ThinkPad (Model: R50), its a great laptop and all music softwares like Ableton and Acid Pro work perfect on it, but i would still recommend a Mac. like a Apple Powerbook G4 .

if you can afford it, go with a powerbook. i have a 1.67ghz g4 15". otherwise make sure you go with a pentium. P4 is preferable but they will be bigger and heavier than the pentium M centrinos. the P4 will have a much larger processor overhead. you will want at least 512 MB ram and expandibilty up to 2 GB and the faster speed ram the better. im a fan of sony and toshiba for PC laptops, gateway is making some nice stuff now too.
its good, if your primary functions is gonna be for audio work, id go P4 instead of PM. dont waste your money on windows media center, just go with xp pro

I'd go for an AMD processor. Much more stable for audio work.
If you're planning to shell out a bunch of dough for a machine like that then you may also want to check out the Rain computers (http://rainrecording.com/products/livebook). Supposedly, these are built with music production in mind..
