MAGAZINES SAY CANADA'S FOREIGN MINISTER HAD SEXUAL AFFAIR WITH 15-YEAR-OLD MALE PROSTITUTE
Claim Canada's Foreign Minister Is An Admitted Bisexual
OTTAWA, February 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Canada's newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister, Bill Graham, is a darling of the homosexual activist community having constantly supported pro-homosexuality initiatives including homosexual marriage. However, last year a Toronto-based homosexual magazine called Fab published an interview with Lawrence Metherel, a former male prostitute, who claimed to have had a sexual relationship with the Graham, dating back to 1980 when Metherel was 15.
The story has gone unchallenged by Graham's constituency office, which admitted to LifeSite that it had heard of the story. As a result the issue has become a major embarrassment for Canada as it was picked up in the US publication Front Page Magazine, which repeated the allegations Feb 14 in a story entitled "Bill Graham: Canada's Latest Shame."
The mainstream press in Canada has touched on the issue in a secondhand fashion as the TorStar corporation's Eye weekly Toronto paper has come out in defense of Graham. Eye columnist Sky Gilbert wrote on Feb 14 that "the first thing you need to know is that Bill Graham is gay," and goes on to say that any interest in Graham's controversial past is evidence of homophobia.
While his bio on the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs says: "He and his wife Catherine have two children: Katherine Helen and Patrick William," Eye says, "Almost everyone in the gay community knows that Graham is gay." Moreover, Eye calls Metherel "an ex-boyfriend of Graham's" and Graham's "spurned lover."
Canadian delegations to the United Nations, under previous foreign affairs Ministers, have been one of the world leaders in pushing a mandated radical sexual agenda on the rest of the world, with total disregard for national cultural and religious traditions. Mr. Graham's appointment begs the question of just how much further the Liberal government is determined to advance this agenda.
Calls to the Press Secretary of Minister Graham were not returned by press time.

First of all, the Eye article *blasts* Fab and the press for this story...so it's actually to lsn.ca you want to really be directing people (a right-wing Christian principled publication, it seems...surprise!). I'll quote the Eye article at the end, but for now it's time to present some other info (not my opinions, btw):
1. Age of consent in Canada is 14 and has been since 1890 when it was raised from 12. The age is raised to 18 in cases where prostitution or a trust relationship exists (neither is proven in this case merely by him being a self-proclaimed prostitute and Graham being a politician).
http://www.justice.gc.ca/en/dept/clp/faq.html
| quote: | The age of consent is 18 years where the sexual activity involves exploitative activity, such as prostitution, pornography or where there is a relationship of trust, authority or dependency. For other sexual activity, the age of consent is 14 years.
...
Although some mistakenly believe that the age of consent was lowered in the 1980s, the age of consent to sexual activity has been 14 years since 1890 when it was raised from 12 years. |
2. This appears to be *radically* different than the alleged oraganized "tours of the White House" and whatnot mentioned in the original thread. so...why did you post this in reply?
further...IMHO, Fab is a notoriously biased publication in that when they (or the editor or publisher) don't like someone, they don't seem to hesitate to show it. I have personal friends who have been so quoted out of context it's not funny and have been implicated in matters completely outside their scope. Fab is a community mag with a huge slant on local entertainment and, IMHO, their journalistic integrity is rather questionable. I used to go to the same gym as one of their main contributors and overhearing how they approached their work only reinforced these ideas in my head. I don't even know if they have a fact checker on the payroll, though legal counsel is listed in the credits. Again, that's all just my opinion...don't sue me Mr. Schwarz!
I'd be more curious to know if Xtra picked up this story as that gay publication seems to have a far more journalistic approach to matters, but again, that's just my opinion from actually having read both publications over many years (unlike you or the people at lifesite, I suspect).
http://www.lifesite.net/aboutlifesite/
interesting source, btw...I'll leave it to others to flip through their "raison d'etre" and guiding principles. Suffice to say it appears to be a a Christian principled, right-wing publication...which is no surprise coming from you, eh? No, that doesn't discount the story...but given that Graham was never prosecuted and is still in office...it kinds of makes me wonder that, if he did noting "illegal", what the motivations were for them publishing this story...and what YOUR motivations are for posting it, given the dissimilarities to the story in the original post.
that's my 15 minute look at this...I'm sure there's more to it, which is why I'm not "taking sides" and not condoning Graham's alleged behaviour. Point being, this is not exhaustive evidence of anything at all, but really just serves to smear his name without the reader further examining the story and the applicable laws.
As for the Eye article, yes indeed, let's read it. Sky Gilbert, btw, is not one of my favourite writers, but is also a long-time contributor to gay publications, notably Xtra (which I mentioned):
| quote: | Out and about with Bill Graham
BY SKY GILBERT
I watched Mel Brooks' fabulous flick Blazing Saddles the other night. Dom DeLuise plays an effeminate queer directing a chorus line of tap-dancing nancy boys. "Listen to me, ******s!" he yells. When the nelly queens answer "Yes!" in unison, he says, "It sounds just like steam releasing!"
Believe it or not, I don't find the movie homophobic. I just think it's incredibly funny. The movie also uses the word ******, but I don't think it's racist. Why? Because the gays and blacks are depicted with incredible political intelligence, and even love.
I can't say the same thing about the recent treatment of federal ex-backbencher Bill Graham, appointed to the post of foreign affairs minister in last month's cabinet shuffle.
The first thing you need to know is that Bill Graham is gay. There, I said it. Is it so very hard to say the word gay? After all, you just have to put your lips together and blow.
I'm certainly not outing the man. (I don't believe anyone has the right to drag someone out of the closet who hasn't already confirmed it themselves.) Almost everyone in the gay community knows that Graham is gay -- even if he is married -- but mostly the press is not willing to say it in plain English.
Admittedly, Graham, instead of admitting his sexuality, deftly (in true diplomat fashion) evades the topic.
"I was made foreign minister by the prime minister," he says. "I believe I have his support and I have the love and support of my family and friends. People might be interested in that aspect of my private life, but it is not relevant."
The result is that the press must drag out old reliable adjectives -- like flamboyant -- to describe him (we all know what flamboyant means, eh?). After his appointment, the Toronto Star could only bring itself to mention that Graham was a member of the "pink caucus," which supported changing the definition of spouse to include homosexual relationships. Unbelievably, even Xtra! could only manage to describe the cabinet minister as "gay friendly."
The tabloids, however, have not been so shy.
You see, fab (the magazine for homosexuals who hate themselves) published an interview with an ex-boyfriend of Graham's last year, featuring the spurned lover's lurid accusations against the respected MP. In my opinion, this was a disgusting piece of yellow journalism. I remember thinking -- after using the article to drain the grease off my breakfast bacon -- that fab had finally sunk as low as any supermarket tabloid. And Frank, true to sleazy form, reprinted fab's bilge after Graham's appointment.
Atypically, Frank (which rarely exhibits remorse) made a pathetic attempt to justify its release of the tawdry details: "Now that he's a federal cabinet minister and a security risk, shouldn't the rest of the country get the story?" The Globe and Mail echoed Frank's sentiments. After Graham (the "flamboyant" new minister) recently deflected questions about the "rumours" concerning his private life as irrelevant, the Globe editorialized, "It is relevant, of course, if it makes him politically vulnerable."
I see. So we're supposed to believe that the press is behaving in a responsible manner here? That they're concerned with security issues, not (god forbid) selling newspapers?
The press has painted Graham into a corner. On the one hand, they urge him to boldly speak out because he is in danger of blackmail -- but doesn't that very danger (if in actuality, it exists) suggest that Graham's admitted homosexuality will hurt his political career? What's a fag to do?
No one is really concerned whether or not Graham is a security risk. The newspapers have finally got an admitted homosexual in a position of enormous power, and they are just itching to destroy him. They would do the same thing in the unlikely circumstance of Svend Robinson's appointment to cabinet. I'm sure other cabinet appointees have complex and perhaps even lurid details in the fine print on their sexual curriculum vitae, but you won't find journalists examining the toilet seats of heterosexuals like John Manley or Anne McLellan, no siree.
However, you can certainly expect these slimy scribes to continue to insinuate nasty things about our new gay foreign affairs minister. I have no double standards: I feel the same way about Graham as I do about Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. I support their god-given right to wear pink leather underwear under their dark blue suits if they so desire, because it has absolutely nothing to do with their ability to lead the country or manage governmental affairs, foreign or otherwise.
As you can see, this is one Canadian journalist who is not homophobic, and is not the least bit interested in digging up dirt on Bill Graham.
Am I the only one? |

If the original story is true, then the White House is sounding more & more like the Vatican.

That sick behaviour actually happened in Cornwall, where the Mayor, Chief of Police, and the Bishop were involved. It's called Project Truth. Look up this unbelievble, yet true story.
Masons and Knights of Columbus scare me. |
Cornwall's twin city must be Spokane, Washington where the mayor used every change he could get to oppose same sex marriage, and was then caught using his city owned computer to pick up young men on internet chat lines. Supposedly he offered one of them a job with the city to keep him quiet also. I haven't heard a huge deal on it here, other than that it is the biggest scandel going on in Washington State this year.
