I'd disagree. We have a discussion going on in AuTA somewhat similar to this, and it is obvious that in every city in Australia that trance is becoming less popular amongst the general everyday clubbing crowd and house is growing. There are less trance nights in favour for house nights, clubs are turning promoters away because they know they can get bigger crowds with house nights, and there are less viable trance nights due to reducing crowds.
Is trance dying? Probably not.
Is it becoming less popular? I'd say from my observations/experiences yes.
Is this going to lead to the 'second coming' that so many people seem to hope for (less commerciality, higher production quality etc)? God knows
