Vestax VMC - 004 Vs Vestax PCV 275

I ordered today an Vestax PCV-275 for $210, 1 year used, it's supposed to be missing one of the kill knobs, but besides that it's in good condition.

I just noticed I could have get the VMC - 004 for $249 new.

Thsi si my first DJ Equipment, I would like to know if I got scrwed

or is the PCV - 275 have some advantage over the VMC - 004.

I also ordered 2 Pionner CDJ 200, wich I don't regret at all, beacuse I'v ejust heard good stories about this.

I will use the mixer to play mainly trance.

Thank You.

Well, the 275 has a Send/Return. And you can put rotary faders on it if you want.

However, the 004 has curve control, but if you spin Trance you won't even need the crossfader. But, it also has individual channel meters, and an extra channel, to boot.

But it's missing a kill switch? Huh? Are you sure it's not an eq knob? If it's a kill switch, fine, you probably won't use them anyway. If it's a knob, I'm sure you can order a replacement from Vestax.

It's kind of a toss-up. I would just be wary of a used lower-end mixer.

But, then again, I've had a 275 for four years. Although it's my backup now, and doesn't see much (any) use anymore. I loaned it to a friend for a while before he bought my DJM-600, and he liked it a lot. It's nice, simple, and solid, and sounds pretty good to.

I've never used an 004, but it looks pretty good on paper.

I have a 275 and use a 004 on a regular basis and I would say that youve made the right decision.

IMO the 275 is a much nicer mixer than the 004, not that the 004 isnt a good mixer.

Thanks.

I was going to invest in a 275 for the send and return features, but an owner of one said those features arent all that good even tho the mixer is flawless and the sound from it is amazing

Even still i think im going to invest in the mixer once ive got my efx 500

Well that's the only bad thing I've heard about this mixer.

What if you get instead a DJM 300, and Hook a Efx 500, wouldn't that be better?

Nah id not go for the djm 300, it i was just gonna hook it through the line out then pass it through the efx id just stick with my gemini ps 650i mixer, Its lasted 4 years so far with the same faders and sounds amazing from the balanced outputs.

See how things go i suppose

Going by the signal to noise ratio, they are about the same, with the 004 being slightly better. 92dB for the 275, 95dB for the 004.

I think that advice could have come from me.

Again i'm only 95% sure that the send and return features aren't any good. That factor didn't come into the equation when i was buying the mixer as i was never going to use them (yet anyway).

But as many have already said, the mixer itself is lovely to play on. It's simple though, no frills. Everything you need is there, but there's nothing else really.

It feels solid though and the faders are a nice length (i don't like short faders) So IMO it's quite a nice mixer for trance music (as well as other genres obviously)..

Am i happy i bought it, Definitely!

Maybe one of the more experienced lads who's messed with the send and return features on the mixer can post a definite answer to this question.

nelly
