Does one have to get a degree to learn how to master for vinyl, or can it be learned online? Does anyone know any resources for this? I would be very interested...

Any mastering should really be done by a professional, especially if it's for vinyl I'd think. But there are some things you can do during mixing. Keep all the bass frequencies in mono and cut off everything below 30Hz. (The needle will skip if the bass is stereo.)

if it is too stereo, a bit of stereo really isn't much of a problem.

How you learn to BE a mastering engineer (as opposed to a recording enginner like SAE or Full Sailraches), I'm not sure. Thouht I can hazard some guesses..

Most I've spoken to have at least 40 years old and have thousands of sessions worth of experience behind them. I did do one with a guy in his twenties, but to be honest he wasn't that great.

I susepect you try and get an internship somewehere thatdoes mastering and start making coffee and follow the traditional route. Online courses aren't going to be much help, as most of it is using your ears in a highly tuned room with gear that the sales tax on one piece is worth more than most peoples whole setups. Not something you can do at home easily.

Mastering your own tracks o a pro standard isn't going to work either as you almost certainly are doing it in the same room and with the same speakers as you mixed the track. consequently you won't be able to hear, let alone correct the mix but using the same setup.

I really wish that everyone who bought one had actually read and understood what he was saying, rather than crushing the daylights out of everything and thinking they can save $70...
