In search of Harmony

Can someone tell me the fastest way for a person to find out the harmonic key of a song or part of a song, without asking others or looking up on someones database? Like how would you do it if you were in an elevator listening to music?

c'mon ppl..... there are more than several threads out there on this already and has been recently discussed several times

there are programs out there (find in other posts) but they are not 100% correct..... go out and pick urself up a cheapo keyboard, play a tune, and hit different keys until one sounds completely right with a track.

with some practice, u'll be able to get the key of a track in less than 10 seconds. i'm sure others will tell u no program is as good as the human ear. and especially when u're keying trance, there is less of a problem trying to figure out whether it is in a major or minor key because 99.9% of trance is in minor.

peace....
