Psy/Hard trance by Sparkunian

Hello brothers

I just upload a track that I spend a lot of hours to complete at Reason 2.I name it "Ofis " and in ancient Greek means snake.I mix a lot of styles inside. It beggins dark and psy (bass is high on purpose)and in the middle has oriental melodies.I could say that is experimental too.Mastering I think is better than my last 2 tracks-ok don't expect something pro!Feedbacks always welcome.Don't be afraid to be realistics and don't forget that I have only Reason2 and you can give me the pos or neg incentive to update or not my gadgets

Track :Ofis
Bpm :150
Quality:192
Link :Listen or download

PS:A big thank to Cybernetica for the vocal samples

Not bad at all. This sounds similar to the more commercial full on psy sound. Composition-wise, it's very good. Some pretty good ideas in there. The down point of this track is that some of the sounds are pretty thin or cheap sounding (I'm mainly thinking of the bass and kick base). Also, it feels a bit empty. Maybe if you could fill it up a bit with more effect pads, some more electronic-sounding percussive instruments, and then beef up those sounds with effects, it could sound more proffessional. Maybe it could even get signed. nice stuff.

Hey sparko, been meaning to review this since you posted, just havnt had the time.

Ok, listening now.

Start has got lots of energy. Straight into it which I like. You've muted the shit out of that bassline... waiting for it to drop.

I like the pulsing laser sounds you've used. Nice.

still at 1 min... waiting for that bass. Lots of chaos going on. slipping and sliding everywhere.

Shit, realised that was was the bass. WTF?? Man, you need a bouncing kickin 16th dropped right in there somewhere.

2.23... some serious joy here. That digital synth you bring in works treat. Locks in really well with the beat.

3.18... nice squeaks

4.22 Really locking in and spinning me out here. Great psychedelic elements.

5.05 Some very subtle rhythmic synth action going on here. creates a nice bounce to the track.

5.30... Those voices sound great. Really work well. Are those the arabic ones you were looking for? ..lol. At this point I'm waiting for some of the elements to work themselves back in. Really waiting for that payoff you get late in a good psy track.

Overall excellent stuff!! Production and attention to detail is really good. The track has good focus too and doesnt feel too random but is very unique sounding at the same time.

At first I was like wtf is the bassline, but it kinda felt like it suited it by the end of the track. I would still consider raising the volume of the bassline or compressing it more though.

Also the ending needs more resolve. It sort of just spirals out pretty insanely at the end, which kinda works but as a listener I sort of expect some relove at the end of tracks.

Otherwise really inspirational psy, some of the best I've heard on TA. Putting it on for another listen.

I was starting to wondering if something wrong with the track after so many days without responding but after your posts feel better !! hehe
Aquarian is big compliment for me to say that

.Also I understand when you said

Bass is in purpose high in the first part of the track.Really don't know why.Sometimes is the feelling that guides you.As for the kick hmmm...These days I'm trying some monitors and I beleive that my sound will be improve generally
Axo I beleive that we have similar taste on psy.I'm telling this cause every review you made on artists until now in this forum is my words Your criticism is always analyze and your focus is on points that really need a second touch. With words like
quote:
Otherwise really inspirational psy, some of the best I've heard on TA. Putting it on for another listen.
you make me very happy.Your considering about the bass is mine too !! but I decided to leave it as it is.

See you on boards mates

Hey sparky (you reviewed Glitchkik on "psynews", thanks for that )
anyway, listening to your track, the mixing seems to be way off, kick is really distorted, the hats are quiet (or maybe its the style) anyway, 2:22 THE SLIDERZ ARE INTENSE !!!!!! sorry, had to get it out of the system. your percussions are sounding weak... just keep working with it.... wouldn't mind hearing some tribal percs in there.... also the kick seems to die later on in the song (around the 3min - end point) bass is fine as is...

i think your kick should have a little stereo delay, give it more intensity....

overall, it's an awesome song, no prob with repetetivity. i was surprised that this one wasn't as dark as alot of other psy on these forums.......

aneway, take care buddy
