They're okay if you get them for under $60, but, over that price, you can do better.

look, gluegun...... the one who actually decides if a pair of headphones is good or bad, is the one using them......
and fact is: none of those bad things said about those headphones is true!! I use a pair of MDR-V700's. the sound is so accurate, the quality is amazing, they are soft and comfortable around the ears, they don't make you sweat, and spinning with them is like a dream..... mixes do come more accurate because of the very accurate bass they have....
and about the flimsy, breakable plastic part, beleive me, if you take good care of them, they won't break or crack, and no cables get disconnected or whatever they say in those links you gave him.
so far, I only heard 4 comments by people against the V700.... one of them was half def, one heard classical music on them, one heard them at his friend's house, that EQed it to sound like shit, and the 4th..... well, re recommended me a pair of stanton headphones (pretty much makes my point....)......
I'm not saying other headphones are not good.... I bet even those MDR-V6 headphones you keep recommending are great (considering they are from the same series as the MDR-V700).... I'm just saying you should let others do the judging about their headphones. let's face it, no pair of ears are the same.......
P.S.
I didn't buy my pair of V700's cause Tiesto, and all the big DJ's use them. I just didn't beleive what's written in some website I don't even know, tried the headphones, and got amazed. I got them for about 90$..... and they were worth every cent to me.

Gyah! I own the MDR-V6's, and had heard the MDR-V700DJ's...

...and all I can say is "the mdr-v6 kicks the mdr-v700dj's stupid f**king a**...cuz sonyMDR-V6 is like WHOA! and sonyMDR-V700DJ is like BLECH!"

And YES, the MDR-V700DJ sucks for music listening even on heavy metal, hard rock and rap music.

i sit here and ponder... why another thread dedicated to headphones...
especially when there is another headphone thread just a few spaces down... and 2 BIG threads a few pages back...

then i think... "some mod should grab all the headphone threads and combine them into one sticky thread"

then i break outta my ponder and say...

teh v700's do the job great, but not for the price that sony wants em for.

Well... what can i say... i haven't heard the v6's to make a judgement about which one is better...

All i can say is i'm pretty much satisfied with the v700 i own now...! One point here is nice: this one is the best i've weared till date, AND if people say there is a pair of headphones even better, then well, i feel even better coz i'll enjoy the ones i have now and will have better headphones in the future!!

If the majority of djs use the 700's doesnt that mean they are good headphones? cause if they are spinning, they obviously need good headphones

I have the mdr7506 and they are okay, but there isnt enough bass. When these get worn out or broken, im getting the sony mdr700 or the technics headphones.

so if all the dj's used numark belt-drive turntables all of a sudden, would you use numark tables too?

i can't stress this enough... go out an test any and all headphones you can find with stuff you spin, or shit you listen to...
sure you can look at specs and frequency response, but the only way to find out if they work for you is to try them out

personally i prefer the pioneers for what i do... the v700's a nice and get teh job done, but are too expensive for my tastes... and i LOVE the sony v6 for my production work... the drivers in there are awesome!

Yea, like I said, the V700DJ's get the job done for under $60, but only if you get them for under $60.

yeah! great example!!! listening to rap and heavy metal on a pair of trance headphones....
I saw rap DJ's working.... most of them don't use the V700.... but almost all of the trance DJ's I saw use the V700.
and heavy metal sux ass so......
anywayz, as you can see, the V700 are probably more sutable for trance and other electronic music...... I only listen to trance through them so I can't compare........
