Well you could, there isnt a law that you cant. But morally, I wouldnt do it, just because burning the flag doesnt solve any problems. Seeing how all these animals on tv and are burning other countries flags, just because they feel hate for the goverment of a particular country, it sure doesnt solve any problems at all. All it does is makes a fool out of themselfs. Just because you dont like Bush and his policies doesnt mean you have to burn the American flag that represents 300 million people.

So my answer to that would be no, of course.

I dont think Americans should burn thier own flag because thats immoral, but if they want to, go ahead anyways, all it makes u is an idiot.

I don't think I ever would, no matter how bad the government in office was. To me, the flag represents your country, not your government.

Unless I detested the actual country, I wouldn't burn it...but long before detesting my country, I would have simply left.

To me, people who burn the flag are in effect saying that they don't care for their fellow countrymen........in which case, I say to them too; Then leave.

Ok I'll quote my reply from the other thread:

If it ever came to the point where I hated the US so much that my visceral reaction was to burn the flag I would have probably left the country long ago, ceased to care, and thus wouldn't have burned the flag.

I would only burn the flag, in the spirit of defiance, with one specific issue ... and that would be if issue in question was burning the flag. Isn't that the American thing to do?

I singed my flatmates Welsh flag once!

As for my flag (depends which one - Englsih? British? EU?) it would depend on the circumstances. If I was cold and needed some fuel for the fire then I'd burn it! I don't think there will be a situation where I burn my flag (that would be British flag then) as it would achieve nowt even if I was pissed off enuf! I don't like it when people in my country burn our flag, not cos I give a shit about the flag, but the fact they have the privalage to live in one of the best countries in the world and dont seem to appreciate it! If Iraqis or Afghans wanna burn it then fine, we probly did alot to warrent it, but they dont live here!

I don't pay too much attention to patriotism (or to give it it's proper term - nationalism) altho I do like my country. It doesn't really bother me too much unless I'm watching sport!! (Or anything to do with Germany or Argentina!! )
