DJM-800 vs Xone:62 or 92....??

I just recently had the opportunity to play on a Xone:62 and was very impressed with the sound quality and overall feel. The "best" mixer I had played on up to that point was a DJM-600. The only shortcoming, IMO, with the A&H is the lack of send/return for an effects unit like the EFX-1000. I really want to have that option at some point in the future, and everything I've read about the Xone's suggested that it's not an easy thing to do.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has had the chance to play on a DJM-800 yet and if so how does it compare to the Xone:62 or 92 in sound quality and feel? Also, how do the LP and HP filters on the DJM-800 compare to the Xone's filters?

I have a Xone:62 and an EFX-500. It's very easy to set the EFX up to work with the Xone on individual channels, however the one downside to not having send/return is that you can't switch the efx from channel-to-channel with lightspeed. I've never come across a situation where I would've wanted to do that, so it's fine with me.

Having the EXACT same setup as Jake, I'll give that a +2

what does "great sound quality" mean. i mean how do you define good sound from bad in normal home situations. do i need a super-precise spectrometer for testing how shitty my Numark DM1050 sounds? help, anyone? how should i know my mixer has a crappy sound or not?

DJM-800 will be out in March in the US.

On paper, it has "better" sound quality than the Xones. That is, more accurate. But, part of the attraction with Xone mixers is the way they color the sound.

I mean really, they're different beasts. The Xone:92, to me, is unsurpassed. It just doesn't get any better. Between the 62 and the 800, I don't know. One is an extremely versatile effects mixer, and one is a solid, quality mixer with great sound.

The sound quality differences will have to be put to your ears. I can practically guarantee you that the 800 will not have the quality feel of the Xones, just like the 600. But, it has a lot of advantages. Personally I would have to play with one to truly pass judgement. And I can't do that for a month or so. Until then...

yeah its kind of hard to get an idea when your mixing at home unless you have incredible equipment. Mixing at a club with a good system though you can really tell the difference. One of my local clubs had a djm500 installed for the last 5 years and upgraded to a xone:92. Was like night and day!

analog will always be better than digital. id go with a Xone92 over a DJM800 any day though in a club environment it is more likely you'll be using pioneer products
