Question Vocals?

Simple Question. Vocals, or no vocals? Provide a reason why you chose your answer if you can.

I personally am very picky about vocals. I prefer none, however i dont mind short breaks of female vocals, i just dont like when they sing for the entire song. I can easily get lost when im listening to "Finished Symphony" by Hybrid, but when i listen to a song with vocals, it makes it much harder for me to enter the trance-state of mind.
It's like trying to fall asleep but having someone talking in the room. So i'd have to go with no vocals. (However there are a few exceptional songs.)

depends on the style of the track. for big melodic trance, generally no (excluding the odd classic), but they can work well if they're more the focal point of the tune... like in more minimal progressive stuff, for example

99% of all vocal trance tunes sucks. the main reason for that is that vocals are often put in afterwards and sounds really out of sync with the rest of the tune.
there are only a little handful of producers who manages to produce vocals which fits in the tune.

what rebel said^ -- some tunes sound great and work well with vocals but the vast majority sound terrible (and that's saying nothing of the sappy and awful lyrics that accompany most vocal tracks...)

Some vocal tracks are really good, but the sad truth is that many tunes use vocals to try to distract the listener from the fact that what's underneath is pretty mediocre.

I love vocals if they're appropriate for the song and actually add something, rather than try to mask a crappy instrumental or are just thrown in as an after thought.

Vocals in trance work so very rarely, simply because vox in a trance record will usually result in one of two things:

1. Tacked on vocals that don't fit and interfere with the track (often tagged on later for radio play).

2. A track built around vocals so that the "trance" part goes wayward and you end up with clubby pop.
