Theoretically, the technique is similar. What's different is that you will be pressing a lot of buttons, instead of using your hands.
I suggest that you at least "get your feet wet".
For example, do you have two portable or just normal (without pitch control) CD players at home? Hook them up to your mixer and try a few transitions. Of course, since there's no pitch control and no instant-start, they will be crappy, but that will give you some cueing experience in matching it for at least 5-10 sec. for example.
Professional CD players for DJ's will have pitch control and instant-start. (Instant-start is where you can start the CD immediately, with no delays, as soon as you press Play; most normal CD players have a delay, if you haven't noticed.)
