I can't get into baseball.

But I love watching cricket in the flesh, mainly because the sun's usually out and the beer's flowing immensely. Superb.

Erm from a english point of view we dont tend to watch Baseball therefore we dont have a view on it.
I Guess americans dont watch cricket.
So both people think the other sport is shit.

I like cricket but have never watched a baseball match in my life so i cudnt give an unbiased decision on which i prefer.

But its probabaly fairer to compare One Day Internationals in Cricket to baseball matches

^useless comment

I'm guessing both Cricket and Baseball are sports that are best watched live. I can't stand watching baseball on TV, but when you're at the stadium like the previous posters have said w/ the sun and the booze, its a great way to spend an afternoon.

I'm guessing I'd rather watch cricket live than baseball on TV, and vis versa.

There is a lot more to cricket than there is in baseball. There is more strategy, plans, tricks and thus a lot harder a game compared to baseball. Its a more complete game.

Definitely prefer cricket over baseball.

Ok... For starters bowling or pitching as you call it in baseball.
The only variations baseball pitchers are allowed are using the changes in the pitching speed movement caused only by air friction and swing to deceive the battsmen whereas in cricket you have a plethora of variations...

Firstly, you can bounce the ball on the ground which cannot be done in cricket...the bounce itself makes cricket a lot more challenging because with that you can create genuine spin bowling, fast swing bowling with bounce.......you can create bouncers, leg spins, off spins (direction in which the ball turns after the bounce)...you dun have any of that in baseball..

You have the whole ground - front and back in cricket unlike basbell where you can just hit in the front. This creates oppurtunities to make different kinds of shots...hitting in the back can be challenging and thus the fielding team would concentrate most on the front side of the batter - thus creating oppurtunity to hit in the back.

The fact that you dun have to run after striking every single ball makes it harder to get the batsman out. The opposing team really has to work to get the batsman out. It also opens doors to strategy as the batsman could play slow and avoid every ball to make sure that his team can stay longer or his batting partner gets to score the runs (he might be a key player, well set batsman or something of that sort). He on the other hand can make sure that all the wickets are intact and the weaker side of his batting line up is not exposed quickly.......

In cricket the coach cannot intervene during the course of the game, the captain has to make all the decisions, thats not the case with baseball. There are a lot of other things, this is just whats striking my head right now..

People like Jason Gillespie can't score centuries in baseball

Can you imagine this playing baseball?

He's had a haircut recently so no more mullet now.

I think you are underestimating baseball.

Your three points were the ground makes the pitching more complex in cricket than in baseball, that you don't have to run on every hit keeps the defense awake, and that managers can't interrupt the game.

First of all there are countless different ways to throw a pitch in baseball, curveballs, knuckleballs, sliders, fastballs, etc, its not nearly as simple as it looks.

Pitching is also extremely taxing on the body, and each team has to decide how long they want to stick with a pitcher before replacing him, and you can't bring players back into a game once you take them out.

In baseball you can lead off the base, steal bases, and the defense has to be just as awake as in cricket.

Also I don't think the manager's job is really that different from the captains, and the pauses don't interupt the flow - both sports aren't built around continuous play like hockey or soccer.

and you are right adi there ARE so many other things we aren't mentioning that are complex w/ each sport.

my vote goes to cricket because cricket is like F1 it has a lot of things in it... pitch/weather/bats/bowl/ground/grass/fielders/bastman/bowlers/all rounders/umpires/third-umpries everything counts and plays an important role..!!!...recently...der was india vs paksitan match @ abu dubai and in the end...india had to take...a key wicket of a pakistan batsman and umpire said he was not out...while he was OUT..!!!..which made paksitan win !!! otherwise der was a chance for india to win dat match so..everything plays an important..role even the weather...rains in test match can save the team of fuck the team... du factor.. makes the pitch wet pitch and also the grass gets bit wet..so u have to hit hard...so..ders a lot..!!!
