I think it's a great statement on the role of large corporations and their domination in the music industry. I agree that their bottom line is to make money and probably don't really care too much about the artists or the music.

However, I also agree that creativity breeds further creativity. I believe that sampling certainly helped to spawn an entire revolution of music, but there needs to be control over what can and can't be used. I feel that if artists pour their heart into a piece of work, permission is required before usage. This permission could be a simple "yeah go ahead".. or royalties on sales. Either way, credit needs to be paid to the original creator one way or the other.

In this case, the Amen Break was eligable for legal use since there were no copyright laws specific enough to cover this type sampling. But, in today's digital day and age... with remixes and remakes dominating our genres, sampling and copying certainly needs to be controlled. Things have drastically changed since the mid 80s... millionaires are made over night... at the same time millions can be lost if one doesn't cover their ass accordingly.

LOL.. I was actually wondering... cuz the clip is extremely detailed and very well positioned with a great deal of proof and examples.

Quite interesting. At first I thought this was one of those records that they say if you played backwards would say stuff about satan and what not...I'd like to hear one of those. I find that so creepy.
