how long songs are Popular for...

is it me or is the edm scene (Trance scene mainly) firing through songs like its nothing. Songs are popular for maybe 5 or so(at like the max) months and then they are gone and its onto the next thing???

Where back in the "good " days like 99 stuff was played for much longer...or am I completely wrong on this? I just find it annoying how quickly the scene goes through different tracks. There is some really great stuff that isnt that old that will hardly if ever get played anymore...and forget the even older stuff. Some of these guys need to drop some more older tunes mixed in with new stuff IMO.

and then yuo have the elistest douches that will bitch about how old something is and its been out for maybe 6 months to a year and a bit. thats NOT old!

I get bored of a song in about 5 months, sounds about right. Especially when every Trance DJ sticks practically the same tracklistings into their set.

But I agree with you on the fact that DJs need to throw old songs into their sets more often. It was so fucking awesome when DuMonde started playing shit from like 2002 and earlier in the New Years set. Resurrection, wooo-woooooooo!

this isn't a bad thing...it just goes to show how edm artists are constantly pushing their limits to make better tunes...

trance tracks life span is much shorter (unless it's a classic in the making) that other genres anyway because of the large number of producers and tracks out everyday. for a fairly solid house / breaks tune. it can easily last for 6-8 months. the awesome ones gets played through out the year too.

Thats because songs today are shit. There are legendary tracks that will be spun and remixed spun and remixed forever.

It's all the same. Decades through decades people make music for all the same reasons. Some people do it for money, some people do it for creative reasons. Only the actual music changes. You are like Ishkur or my grandfather. Stuck to some outdated ideal of what music should be and unwilling to accept the fact that music is always changing and moving.

If my ideal was outdated, djs wouldn't be dropping it like it's ______ .

(insert non-outdated posthumanistic tard saying)
