Consequences of a war in Iran?

I would like to make a thread to discuss the consequences that to have a war on the area, as well as on the world growth, in a context already weakened by the dissensions between Europeans and American, and by a third oil crisis.
Iran is not an Arab country, i.e. that only 2% of the population speak Arab, btw they have creates their own Islam with the Shiism. So, what can be the influence of a major conflict in Iran on countries like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan?
Iran is also an important oil-producing country, and I wonder if a scenario similar to 1979 is possible?

Feel free to post related articles!

In my not-so professional opinion...

A war with Iran is such a retarted idea, unless the USA has all the big countries backing it... IE: Russia, UK, France, Germany, Middle-Eastern allies blah blah blah... Cause at least then the war cost will be reduced for the already indepted Americans.

Iran has oil, big deal, you think there wont be an insurgency in Iran if and when Uncle USA takes over? It'll be worse than the insurgency in Iraq, just because the way of life in Iran is really not all that bad by the middle-east's standards, so I don't think the people there would much like their lifestyles to take a huge blow just so the USA can say it's conquered 3 countries in 6 years.

Also, like I said in my other post... If the USA manages to secure Iran moreso than in Iraq, and gets the oil pumping... China is just going to buy all the American energy companies in less than a decade anyway (Yes congress will have to give in, given the retartedly huge debt the USA has with China), so screw oil, its going in one way and out the other, if you drop Oil off the table as one of the reasons to invade... Uhhh.. You're left with... "Dethroning the evil extremist/terrorist supporting nutcase dictator". UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, yes this was nice for roughly 2.5 weeks next door, hooooooorah beat statues with shoes nanananananana, bam, my country is in ruins and it's your fault USA, I think I'll strap 15kg of C4 to my chest and detonate myself at a checkpoint... All of a sudden we're in a similar mess as in Iraq, now with an even bigger burden on the US tax payers..

From the US standpoint there is no need for a war to get Iran to comply, The US will just bomb their facilities used for enrichment.
So dont get your panties in a wad thinking the US is going to invade Iran because that is not going to happen anytime soon.

I'm not afraid of a conventional war, and I think that US Army is not able to invade Iran actually, but the consequences of a conflict on the peace in the area and on the world growth can be really important. For instance Iran can give more subsidies to Hamas and Hezbollah, and can threat Israel.

Alex, Russia will never join them because Putin's soul purpose in life is to oppose the West even if it's not beneficial to himself and his dictatorship regime. China gives two shits about Iran, they aren't stupid. They are raping Iran. Did you know that China is currently working on dozens of NUCLEAR power plants? They are using Iran's oil supply simply because they need it...for now. Unlike some American politicians who bitch and moan and will never allow Nuclear/Solar/Win power reactors to take over the oil business. which would drive the economy of middle east down the drain. We defeated communism in the Soviet bloc this way, i don't understand what's stopping us from doing this now, at a faster rate since hybrids are so on their way it's not even funny.

i was watching a CNN report with a bunch of military annylists and i think it was Wolf Blitzer's program and he was asking them if a conventional air strike can penetrate Irans undergroud facilities, they are about 30 feet in the earth with concreted reinforcments and shit. they all said that it's completely possible.

So yeah you're right air strikes will just take the facilities.

Don't forget that Iran is under watch by alot more countries and is annoying alot more countries than just the US.

It seems that someone will go to war with Iran eventually if they continue with their nuclear program. Either the US, UK, Europe, Israel, UN, or a combination of these countries feel they're forced to attack if Iran doesn't stand down.

Well, I think it's more than that, no? I mean even if there was a movement in the congress or senate it couldn't go through.

/sigh we've already been through this...
Let me ask you this, knowing that the facilities are underground do we have to destroy them or can making it impossible to reach them suffice?

If you say destroy fine, heres what will happen covert spec ops teams, there will be no invasion, no there will be no massive land war. There will be a precise bombing campaign followed by spec ops if needed.
