ok so i finally checked out cdj's...

went to guitar center to check out cdj's.. a few points...

-i was amazed at how easy the transition is from playing vinyl to playing cd's. i literally started spinning between a 1000 and a 200 like i had been using them for months- piece of cake! (i have been spinning vinyl for 2-3 years)

-i was really impressed with the 200. it's excellent value for the money- the effects are awesome, the looping (to me) is just as easy to use as the 1000, and everything else seemed up to par with the higher models.

-the only reason i think i will buy an 800 over the 200 is the 'vinyl' mode. i'm just so used to spinning vinyl that i don't want to deal with the 'cdj' mode that the 200 one is stuck in to cue up tracks.

-i concluded that the 1000 is basically a much cooler looking 800

-someone posted on a previous thread that the 200 and 1000 can change tempo in .02% increments. maybe i had the settings wrong, but all the ones i were using (1000, 800, 200) moved in .05%, and none at .02%. again, maybe it was me.

-question: why didn't they build effects into the 800 or 1000? i liked the sound of the effects on the 200 better than on my EFX500!

CONCLUSION- i think i will buy one 800 and use it with my two 1200's.

You have to set the pitch range to 6% in order to get the .02% increments.

I think the reason that there aren't any effects on the CDJ-1000's are that when they came out 4-5 years ago, it wasn't really an option.

Other high end CDJ's (Denon SN-S3500, for example) do have on board effects.

oh forgot to ask- is there some sort of default with the 800's? people seem to be posting problems with them frequently, plus the one of the 800's at guitar center wouldn't work properly (the guy couldn't figure out how to fix it)

something i would like to know before buying one!

pitch adjust button above the slider lets you change between 6/10/16. I've played around a bit with the 800 and 1000.. sure they're supposed to be "better" models, but there's just something about the 200 that feels really natural to me - the button placements, the size, the wheel, the proportions. Maybe it's the fact that I've never even touched a vinyl, and that those later models might have been made to accomodate the habits of the vinyl savvy people.

honestly if it wasn't for the vinyl mode i would buy a 200 in a flash... i guess that's where the technology in the thing is though

I think u'll change your conclusion months after u get your 800...

it is to get ANOTHER 800....cuz mixing CDs to vinyls only will get old pretty fast (well I did it for a year b4 I got my second one)

Get the new 800MK2s but there are differences between the 1000MK2s.... main differeces is Hot Cue, External Memory, Seperate control knobs for Speed Adjust/Brake and Release Start, CD Lock and Wave table (which i think is very useful)

cdj mode is not that bad and doesn't take too long to get used to. Plus the .02 pitch is very accurate. Id say go for 2 200s. You will definitely hate only having one cdj.

I bought one 200 and soon grew sick of it and purchased another one. I am very happy with them.

Reason why they didnt put effects on the cdj800's and cdj1000s is probably because they want you to get the EFX1000s or the EFX500s.

Im not a pioneer rep, but my guess to why they put effects on the 200s is to market it a little better since it doesnt have vinyl mode and is geared more for the bedroom traditional vinyl djs exploring digital CDs

I won't get the 800

the pitch accuracy is 0.05 %, and in the CDJ-200 is 0.02 %

and for the vinyl mode, you will get used to the CDJ Mode in less than 3 days I guess.

ther eis no reaosn for paying extra money for a vinyl mode to cue your records.

I wouldn't get the 800.

i have 2 800 mk2s and an a&h 32 mixer and love them all to pieces.

.05 pitch adjust is NOT bad at all and i can cue 2 tracks and have them play the whole way through with no horse races at all. plus with the cdj tempo adjust, if the DO race a bit, simply touch one up and its magic.

now im looking at getting efx1000 or 500 by the end of summer but have no clue what the difference is

ok so here's what it's come down to...

2 x 200's for 700 dollars

vs

1 x 800 for 615 dollars

i'm not sure what to pick; it all comes down to the vinyl mode... i dunno maybe i can get used to the cdj cue mode- it just really sucks! especially after only knowing vinyl.

however i can definately see how having 1 cdj would suck.

what would you guys pick???
