Thank you!

I've been wondering about that for years. I participated in a program featuring an electric car in 1995. Excited that the market for the electric was going to boom, my mom reminded me that the electric car was invented shortly after the gas car. Makes you wonder why there's no electric cars anywhere.

My conspiracy theory is that oil corporations or other major leaders investing in gas cars BUY the rights to electric cars and then hide away the blue prints. My guess is that once they deplete all the other resources, they'll suddenly pop out millions of electric cars, making commercials with messages along the lines of, "We thought of this electric car on our own just now. Praise us for bringing you into the future just in time."

that seems to be the setup of the movie. Doesn't seem suprising at all

there is no conspiracy theory. It's quite obvious that the oil companies control the car companies.

SO MANY ways to run a car, and we still use gas.

Don't forget about trains. We could easily have mass transit systems based off of trains, but for some reason that hasn't happend either.

Here companies are producing cars that can run either with alcohol or gas (new cars accept both fuels). If there is a conspiracy, alcohol cars wouldn't have been produced, don't you think?

Never mind the electric car. And forget about ethanol.

The planet is covered in 70% water. Two thirds of that is hydrogen, a clean energy source.

If cars, boats, trains, planes, etc. got their fuel from water there would be no such thing as a third world. There wouldn't be a monopoly on hydrocarbonic fuel either because no one would use "dirty" fuel.

I've heard a couple of stories on how some guy invented a new kind of electric car, and a major gas or oil company bought out the rights for millions of dollars.

Theoretical question:
If you invented a new electric car and a major company told you they'll give you ten million dollars if you give them the rights to it, and knowing they're going to do nothing with it, would you give in to temptation?

Looks interesting indeed. Although I don't really think I need to see a documentary to be conviced of which group wouldn't want them gone (until the opportune moment).

even if you refused to sell the rights they would try to stop you in every other way

Although I'm not fond of conspiracies, here's something quite interesting:

http://screen.yahoo.com/b?re=100000...&db=stocks&vw=1

Take a look at "sales": Out of the top 10, only 2 entries aren't related to either fuel or vehicles.

I thought it was fairly obvious to people that in the early 1900's gasoline was incredibly less expensive than electricity...
