I have only been out of province thrice (to Quebec) - and now I plan to head out to Victoria to visit my buddy Nathan (other half of Marshall & Goulet) and have myself a little vacation.
I have never flown before.
What's the best airline and way to get to BC. Cheaper the better. (obviously... but I am trying to pay for school right now)
Is it better to stop in Vancouver than ferry over to Vancouver island?
TOTA is notarious for knowing the best way to go about things like this.
So help me out guys.
edit: Jaime replies to thread in 3...2....1....

the best way to fly would be on a plane I would think!

the ferry option will not work
the airport is FAR from the ferry terminal in vancvouer, and then downtown victoria is far from the airport.
to do the whole thing via public transport (i've done it) would take around 5 hours (to get from vancouver airport to downtown victoria) - no shit. probably cost around $20 bucks.
whenever I've done it, I've gone direct YYZ-YYJ, two flights leave daily.
many airlines will get you to vancvouver cheap, but i think the only airline that does vancouver-victoria is aircanada (i love that flight)
your best bet would be airline webpages and travel webpages, e.g. travelocity.com or cheaptickets.ca/.com etc...
gluck
you will love the island

Done this trip SEVERAL times to go see family and stuff.
Fly to Vancouver via WestJet or Harmony (they're usually the cheapest and best), then take the island hopper from Harbour Air (this will cost about $100 but it's only a 17min. flight to Victoria as opposed to a 2.5hr ferry ride). They also have a choice of where on the Island you need to go that might be closer than the major airport.
Harmony Air has a seat sale goin' on from Toronto to Vancouver for $199!
Have fun!!
I normally go out once a year and I'm going out twice this summer for family B-Days and such so I just happen to know all this
