Worst proffesional release ever? Production wise

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie
Bob Sinclair - World Hold On

They both have the main element being poorly mixed in imo. Can't think of anything else.

What are your contributions?

Everything from gigi d'agostino. Seems like they hired monkeys to do all the production and writing of the lyrics.

Maybe there not that good but they were both successful tracks, which once again shows that tracks just need to be interesting not well produced to get released imo

Yeah. Most listeners don't care about the quality as long as it's pleasing in some way.

Its all MTV

The fact that it was made into a music video is what really set it up for its success.

I hate the song to be honest, it makes me wanna punch babies

WHAT!!?! I couldn't disagree more :-) I agree that Gigi has a very special sound, but in IMHO that's what it is - special - not bad!

I think he has done several mixes that are really, really well done in the sense that they have an edge and energy that don't come easy (i.e. takes a lot of tweaking, getting the eq and comps just right etc.).

Try listening to almost any track from the "Under Construction" EP - a kick and a bass that hits that hard, but still sounds very clean is not easy to produce (again imho).

Also listen to "Complex" - it's difficult to fit so much into a mix without it being cluttered, but I don't think it gets cluttered at all at any time...

Oh well, I guess it all depends on taste...

However, I completely agree with the guy that said Basshunter - "Boten Anna" is poorly produced. It was done in Fruity, for crying out... Probably all software VSTi and VSTs - and maybe just a T-Racks with the "Loud & Clear"-preset for mastering to finish it off nicely ;-) But hey, the song is a smashing hit all over Scandinavia.

Otherwise I would vote for the "DJ Sammy"-stuff. Don't like the thin sound...

Regards

I hope people are offering un bias ideas here. We all know TA is nutorias for heavily bias info. I agree on the shakira track though I remember hearing it and just feeling like I needed to tweak and eq or level or something.

+1 This is the worst song ever. The clip is even worse, what a nerd that guy. Not to mention what the lyrics are about.
