EquiCompressor (How to kick ass in FL!)

This is something I've been working on. Call it a send unit, of sorts... (Only in FL)

It's two fruity peak controllers and two fruity phase inverters. Reason there's two of each is because the phase inverts only work in either stereo channels, which I quite don't get. Anyways.

This is the sample. First part is the kick as is. Second part is the kick with 75% EquiCompression. Third part is the kick with 125% EquiCompression. Fourth Part is everything (just a simple drum pattern) as it is. Fifth part is everything with 75% EquiCompression (on everything), and sixth part is everything with 125% EquiCompression.

And here's the file:

http://www.fileden.com/files/2967/EquiCompress.mp3

So, you might wonder to yourself, what the heck is this?

Well, it's just meant to be use for a nice effect, not for acctual compression. And it work pretty simple.

It uses peak controllers to anti-phase when the volume gets loud enough. Really. This is how it's done:

Take a send-channel, any send-channel. Add two peak controllers with these settings:

base = 0%
Vol = 200%
Tension = As high as the sucker goes
Dec = Max

Don't forget to unmute both. It's important that the settings are the same, otherwise you'll get a weird stereo-effect (which may be nice)

The add two phase inverters, each set to different stereo channels (one on right, and the other on left)

Now, rightclick on both's mixlevels, select link to controller, and choose one of the peak controllers under 'internal controller'. Choose them respectiviley for both phase inverters. ie, don't choose the same twice.

Now, when you have done that, it's done.

Play around a little now. The technique is, as you might've noticed great for kicks. ;P

So, tell me what you think ;P
