Need help choosing router...

Hey, I need some help choosing a good router....Ive had bad luck with 2 D-Links and now my current NetworkEverywhere....first d-link just stopped working....second d-link, 1 or 2 of the 4 lan ports stopped working...and now my current networkeverywhere is overheating which i just found out the other day is commen in this router (I have it working by taking the cover off).

So, what should I get now? I would like to only spend around $50, We have a laptop that can be wireless (wired now since this router doesnt have wireless) and 1 desktop and another on the way...which are both going to be wired....

I was thinking
Netgear
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16833122016

or a
Linksys
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16833124010

And these would be fast enough to move large files such as gcf files from Steam on one computer to another right? is the speed noticeable between a 54mbps and 108mbps?

Edit: Errr....is a Router/Switch the same thing? Oh yeah, and I am on DSL

If you're on a tight budget, get the Linksys.

the linksys ones with MIMO are great but on the expensive side. dont bother with N routers as they are PRE spec and not final. what that means is when they finalize it there is a very good possibility they wont be compatible with the stuff that comes out when its finalized. not something i would bother investing in.

I've been reading some intresting reviews about the new N, not really worth your money yet.

If you can, pick up a Linksys WRT54G and download DD-WRT for it = win.

Aside from Linksys - if you want a very reliable router, look into US Robotics. I have one, myself - no dropouts, whatsoever.

didn't they release Draft-n? which is basically the version that is going to be finalized unless the board finds something wrong with it?

...known from a videotape the two made when they met in March... in Dresdens home, Dresden amputated Gabriels penis and Dresden and Gabriel ate the penis together...Gabriel had insisted that Dresden bite his penis off; this did not work.. Dresden used a knife. When that knife turned out to be too blunt, Dresden used a sharper knife to slice the penis off. Gabriel apparently tried to eat his share of his own penis..but could not because it was too..."chewy". Dresden then sautéed the penis in a pan with salt, pepper, and garlic.

Ok, I bought the WRT54G so now...is that DD-WRT supposed to be newer/better firmware? Is it supposed to be better than the 1.00.9 version firmware on Linksys.com?
