hey chaps and chapettes.

this is what i have been working on over the last few weeks.

an energetic techno fueled prog trance track. im quite happy with it but wanna get it perfect so any comments will be much apprieciated.

the track is a late night techno tune with melodic soundz imo. and was started during a horrid hangover i had after a big night....

Cool! The vocal sounds great but a bit overused imo. Like the melodic melody! Good job!

Really liking the emotive melody in your pads when it gets into it - one of your best imo...not to sure about the vocal,a bit weird for my liking and it repeats too much..your percs are inventive as ever - sounds really promising, espeically that melody - keep working on it mate..

hey mate, reviewing as i listen...

intro starts cool, nice clear vocals..

[0.28] kick sounds fine to me...
[0.58] i love that bassline for some reason
[2.10] sounds cool that little synth, maybe some pads with this would sound good...
[2.21] again i love that bassline!
i have to agree with Akia, the vocals are a bit overused....
[3.00/6.58] no comments, i have enjoyed listening...

here are overall critics for the tune, the song has some gaps that need to be filled, at 2.00 try and add some dark pads... i think the tune would even sound better with a second melody!? also pls try to avoid over using the vocal effect. i loved this tune, so im definatly looking forward to the updated version mate!

Bidor

i think what u did with the bassline and the kick is great, really melts together nicely. I think ur sound quality has improved alot over the last while. clarity is def there. I do agree with some of the other comments that the overall mix lacks a little substance...seems likes this track needs a few more layers. sound a bit empty still. doesn't really go off enough for me. it would probably be excellent on the dance floor, but im at home
good job.

Listening now...

- The beat building up at the beginning sounds pretty good to me. The high sound (flanged hat?) sounds a little too loud, but otherwise good.

- Vocal's well-placed as well. I'd have warped it here and there as opposed to using the same sound but that's a personal choice.

- Bassline kicks ass, well done.

- Spooky pads and sparse bell-like sounds add a nice touch, very good for this style.

On the whole I agree that the mix doesn't quite seem to have a clear direction, but then again this is prog-trance, so I won't fault you on that; it's pretty much par for the course.

Good dancefloor track, and I'd say that your sound's definitely improved, must be all that time in the Production Studio.

Hey Rich,

First of all, cool artist alias and track title, they fit the bill quite nicely.

This is your best work up so far mate. The atmosphere is ace, the beat is great, the percs now sound a lot fuller and the track has a nice drive.

Just a few pointers: the vocal indeed has been used a bit too much in my opinion as well. The strings could perhaps be a tad louder so that the melodic element also receives enough attention. And did u sidechain the bass? If not, it could be an improvement to get the bass going even more. Sidechaining in on the volume of a kick will give a nice pulsating boost.

For the rest I enjoyed this track. I can imagine this being played out by M.I.K.E

Keep up the good work mate!

listening ...

Cool sounding intro with the voices, creates the way for a techish sounding track.
Not a big fan of that bassline so far, IMO it fails to create any drive in the track.
I'm not too sure about the melody also, it doesn't really do anything for me.
However the percs so far are excellent, and the pads coming in are very nice.
Overall it's not a bad track, but no where near your best man.

hello,

not a fan of the intro imo... kick sounds cool, snare is phatt, the closed hats are quite in your face and sound like theres a bit too much reverb there. synth work / bassline sound cool, very electro. the dotty synths are cool but the arrangement and the way things are introduced need work.

Its a good start, but something is not right, the overall sound is cool but elements are missing and arrangements will help a great deal! keep it up.

Intro is okay. Could use some more interesting parts. Bassline is nice and fat, but the transition to it is very unexpected. It has a good phaser on it. Very interesting percs. I love your kick.

Breakdown could use some work. It's cool having the bassline being the main focus especially with the electro feel.

I'm going to agree on the closed hats being too "in your face" and the amount of reverb is a little much. The vocal bits fit quite well.

I'm getting a little bored of the track already though (4 mins in). The overall arrangement is a little boring as Terry has stated. I think the main chorus goes on for far too long. Your percussion work has a much tighter and professional feel to it instead of sounding too minimal as your previous works. Bassline is great.

Pretty good work, could use some help on arrangement and transitioning also.
