What to buy

Hey guys,
I have been considering getting into DJing. I am curious what your thoughts are on the following stuff I want to buy:

2 Stanton T.50X Belt Drive Turntable
1 Behringer DX626 Pro DJ Mixer

I am also curious where I would go about finding vinyl. I have been having trouble finding where to buy various records. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

dont waste your money on that poor quality equipment. You will not be happy. and you will not even be able to mix properly. If you want to get into djing maybe start with a comnputer program like traktor 3 and use mp3's.

There aren't many good packages worth getting. You're better off building your setup yourself for many reasons. Check the link Demoted posted above. It's a good start.

Yea, I am in college. I was hoping there would be a setup that you have or you know that someone has that is under $500.00 USD.

In any situation you aren't going to want to go cheap on the equipment (at least for mixing purposes). Well, I mean to say that you can't go overtly cheap. Stay in the realm of the well-known brands like Pioneer, Numark, Technics, and things of like (just not Stanton).

If you're planning on going the vinyl route, you will spend an extreme amount of money cumulative than if you went cdjs. That is unless, of course, you went the route and got Serato/Final Scratch/M Audio for vinyl emulation, bearing in mind that any of those programs will run about the same amount you wish to spend on the entire system: $500.

Vinyl you have to import and ship, which can cost literally thousands more during your mixing tenure. Not to mention digital has become the mainstay and there's not nearly as many tracks that you can find on vinyl which you can find as mp3's or cds.

Also, from the sound of it you seem as though you're going for one of those dj-in-a-box type of deals which I just never seemed to be gung-ho about. They don't have a very good reputation, and I just don't think the dj-in-a-box sets are durable.

I can definitely relate to you not wanting to drop $1000-1500 and then finding out that djing isn't for you, but that's what receipts and return policies are for.
