okey, I have seen some of you sort your records after key.

And I have looked at them and i dont understand anything, any one have like a guide for it all or something?

rapid evolution is only about 60% accurate though (or something along those lines), so you're not doing harmonic mixing very well if 40% of your tunes are keyed wrong.

Only tangentially related, but is it really that important to mix 100% harmonically?

I have problems finding certain keyed tracks, and so I can't make a good set that works harmonically. I'll mix two or three tracks together that 'work' harmonically, and then mix something in that's a few keys off (around the Camelot circle) and repeat.

Point is, the 'wrong keyed' tracks don't really matter. =)

There are a small handfull of keys that are rarely used. Solution is that there are many ways to put together key combinations you just don't have to mix into the perfect third you can get creative.

no actually it's like 70% in key but around 90% close enough - anyways since i used i never had one of them harmony-trainwrecks ;-)

Yes, but who knows what kind of source material they are using to determine the accuracy of key detection... I suspect that trance is easier to key than some other styles because of the overt use of melody.

At any rate, RE2 is smartly designed. Not only does it detect a key, but it also assigns a value to how accurate the detection is. I had a column in my search window to show key accuracy. Most are fairly high (you won't ever get 100% by automation, which also makes sense) and only a small percentage scores less than 50. It gives you an idea of what tracks you need to watch out for and double-check. The point is to never blindly rely on what the program sez; use your ears but this will help immensely.
