In the past 2 years, he's really only had hints and glimpses of being the true 'trance' dj he was before that so this shouldn't be shocking.
If anything the more these changes happen when the bigger name, older Trance DJ's seem to be converting styles, the more space will open up for fresh Trance DJ's to entertain big venues and people won't be complaining about genre overload. It seems House will always have a home since many promoters/club owners see it as a flexible genre (it can fit into the big room, the lounge etc) but especially in Toronto, I feel I'm not the only one second guessing if once the recycled DJ's retire, we will get any more Trance in the big venues. |
retire? those guys are gonna go out with style- die in the DJ booth.
But I think you're right. If Tiesto, Armin and PVD and throw Ferry in there, if they all retired today we wouldn't have a big event at the Guv with trance in the mainroom. Maybe one day SVD sometime in the future but thats about it. "Trance" would be pushed to like the Gallery or Drink or something . This would also mean that it is not the music people go for but the name and performer.
