Planetarium Information

The Miami Planetarium opened its doors to the public on November 4, 1966 and has entertained and educated children of all ages about astronomy and the wonders of the night sky ever since. The Planetarium, home to Jack Horkheimer’s Star Gazer, the world’s first and only weekly television series on naked-eye astronomy, houses a 65-foot diameter domed projection screen with 231 seats. At the heart of the Planetarium is a SPITZ “Space Transit Planetarium” star projector, which is capable of accurately reproducing the stars and planets as seen from anywhere on Earth at any time during the year.

The Planetarium also features surround sound, video projection, lasers and breathtaking four story tall multi-media imagery. Unlike any other in South Florida, the Museum’s Planetarium is a unique setting for bringing the stars and planets indoors in animated live star shows and music-filled laser light shows.

Directions: From the north, take I-95 to Exit #1A/SW 25 Road, stay in the right hand lane and follow the signs to the Museum/Planetarium. From the south, follow U.S. 1 and make right just before the split with I-95. From Metrorail, exit at the Vizcaya Station and cross U.S. 1 via the pedestrian overpass.

I used to go to those shows a long time ago. Great times. Funny that they have been with the Floyd and Zeppelin shows forever, although I completely understand why. Interestingly someone posted on CJ that Coachella was trying to get a Floyd reunion for next year's festival. I doubt that will happen. But I can say I do not care how old they are, I have seen them 4 times and that is the craziest concert anyone will ever experience. And every concert they play at in Fla., it always ends up pouring rain, which only adds to the show.

They do this every month. Never been though.. trippy experience isnt it lol

deffinitely worth the money. Someone spends alot of time matching the lasers too music. More time than I like to put into a pre-done show. I would deffinitely goto every one of these if I lived in miami

Laser light shows rock. I've caught many in the Central FL area. It's always funny to see all the people tripping balls.
