Speaker Stands..

I own a pair of Alesis M1 620 monitors and Im shopping for suitable stands. Ive never owned a pair of stands so this may seem a tad noobish what im about to ask

any stands i see seem to be simply a pole - is there some sort of platform provided for the speaker to sit on or are these designed for the speaker to "slot into".

recommendations are welcome !

Atacama stands are really good value for money.

Speaker stands on a platform supported by 3 poles, you fill the biggest one with sand to prevent any sound isolation & the speaker stands is on 3 spikes.

Something pleasing to ones eye would be a real plus too.

yeah how are most monitors attached to the average speaker stand? I've seen mackie monitors in a dj booth at local club which laid on their side on top of the stand, but appeared to be screwed to a plate... I have Alesis M1 Active MK2s and they don't have pre-drilled screw holes in their sides so I'm hesitant to make some :/

I have a pair of Yamahas that I use for playing out, and they have holes on the bottom of them for a stand to fit into. Otherwise, you'll probably have to look harder, or buy some stands for home stereo speakers, which have a platform that you put the speakers in (although these tend to be pretty expensive).
