This was cool. Nice video.
Don't tell me this was your first jump (as they strap you around for the first few jumps)

Nah my first jump was a tandem. I had several jumps by the time I got to this point. Each dropzone has a different training methods, the one you are thinking of is the tandem progression course which Skydive Houston doesn't necessarily do.

In actuallity though: tandem skydives are optional, and most people choose to do them on their first jump just to get a feel for the environment; I did. There are a few who opt to bypass the tandem jump and go right into the 6 hour first jump course for the AFF program; and to date have never done a tandem. It really depends on the dropzone and their school's policy in accordance with teh BSNs/FARs, etc.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm as new to editting video as I am to skydiving. I know this is an off-topic based forum but to me the emotions I percieve during a skydive...match those I get when hearing a favorite trance track in a live set played at the right time. It was that that prompted me to share and while I cannot sell the sport, I can highly recommend doing at least a tandem. It may change your life as it did mine.

Cheers
Matt

I can understand your emotions. I did Micro-Lite a couple of times in South Africa over a field of wild animals. I felt like a bird and it was so peacful up there .
I have not yet done a free-fall (atleast from this height) and am sure it must have been some experience. Will try it some time for sure in future.

just uploaded this. Here's the most recent jump from the past weekend:

AFF Level 7 (01-01-2007)

The video does the actually experience very little justice/ The videographer picked the track for this one.

Fantastic video and soundtrack! I've never seen a jump video done to trance music, usually it's some thrash or metal. Your vid make me want to try it, if I can get past that whole "Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane" part.

Can you talk to those guys while you're falling, or is the wind super loud?

I can say this, it isnt for everyone, but I *do* recommend that everyone at least try a tandem which is the safest way to experience the environment. Most of the fear comes from fear of the unknown. This tends to go away after 2-5 jumps and with education. The more appropriate forum for this would be www.dropzone.com, as the majority of the posters there have much more experience than I do.

No, and this is why the handsignals exist as seen in the AFF level 3 video. The only thing your able to hear in freefall is the 120mph winds.

Good...so they won't hear me scream like a girl!

I looked into it, in my area, it's not as expensive as I thought, I may give a tandem a try in the spring. They do have a video option, may do that as well. Thanks for sharing your experience.

No problem at all. While it is a little bit mroe pricey to get video, I highly recommend it.

Oh man that looks sooo cool. I can´t wait to complete the 13 stages. I did my first tandem one month ago, and I can´t wait to get to the 4th jump where I get to do it by myself. I´m going to have to wait till spring to do it though. NY gets pretty damn cold and they only do solo´s during the winter, no tandems.
Looking forward too see you future videos Matthias.

HAHA, on my first tandem I jumped with two other friends. I was the first to jump. Later, after I landed, my friend who jumped third told me that after the two of us were gone the instructor told him ¨well your friends are gone, you have to jump now or you will be a pussy for the rest of your life, so get ready to arch.¨
He did jump so the name didn´t stuck hehe.
