Big Ears Record Stores...Some research....help me out here...

For those of you that still buy vinyl - yes you- I know there are a lot of you still, just some general Q's if you can spare a few mins.

I am referring specifically to physical stores here- not online- that part is piss easy and I have that sorted

Do you prefer used or new record stores, or a mixture?
What in your mind would make the perfect record shop- or contribute to it?
What puts you off a record store- either by putting you off going in in the first place, or stops you going back there again?
Do you like places with a wide range of genres or do you prefer speciality places with stock more specific to one or two related styles?
Do you like the idea of somewhere like HTFR in terms of their classics/back cat/rarity selection- only without the dodgy represses, and bad reputation- but with a good chilled out friendly vibe and somewhere you can hang out?

General thoughts on any aspect of record stores good or bad or your experiences greatly appreciated

I know my thoughts and those of some close friends, but want to widen the net somewhat and open the floor to opinions.
Yes this does have a point to it

Please- no slagging off, or turning this into yet another digi vs vinyl debate thread.
Cheers...

1. I like both a mixture of New and Used vinyl at the record shop.

2. Perfect record shop? More inventory, bulk purchasing.

3. Vinyl @ my local record shop usually runs about $12/record unless it's used or quite old, that can add up really quick and can be a turn off when trying to build a collection.

4. I prefer wide genre record shops

5. I'm not exactly sure what HTFR is so I don't have a comment here, but I would like to see a section for rarities and back catalogue items at my local shop

Do you prefer used or new record stores, or a mixture? mixture for sure..

check out the new releases then go digging

What in your mind would make the perfect record shop- or contribute to it?

free booze nice help, nice selection and fucking stools or chairs so u dont have to fucking stand and preview records fuck that gets annoying! :P

What puts you off a record store- either by putting you off going in in the first place, or stops you going back there again?

unpleasant staff is probably #1. the best record shops i've been to have always had super nice people working there. shit selection is also a turnoff. and no preview decks.

Do you like places with a wide range of genres or do you prefer speciality places with stock more specific to one or two related styles?

wiiiiide selection. for me it's perfect because ill end up leaving with records from dub to techno.

Do you like the idea of somewhere like HTFR in terms of their classics/back cat/rarity selection- only without the dodgy represses, and bad reputation- but with a good chilled out friendly vibe and somewhere you can hang out?

no i think that's a fucking stupid idea.

of course that's a good idea!
