Confused software for a newbie

just got the urge to start mixing when i have some free time. since i've heard about mixing right on a laptop/desktop, i figured i'd use a program that makes this possible rather than buying turntables. any ideas/suggestions??

There are approximately 34,485 examples of this type of software within the first few pages of this forum.

But here are some search terms for you.

Ableton
Traktor
Mixmeister

Traktor is a good beginner program. Ableton is a little out of most peoples budget if they are just starting.

Traktor is a nice prog, not to mention you can show off your gamer side by controlling the program with a pair of Wii-motes:

You should also consider PCDJ software. They also have relatively cheap hardware controllers if you want to get a little closer to having a full setup.

Def Suggest Traktor. As a beginner Ableton is way to hard to figure out. I know from experience from using my friends. Traktor works decent with any one of the many cheap controllers (hercules, dm2). Good Luck
