Recently i find myself making my idea's faster than i can finish them. I thought it would be nice to have a discussion on the matter, like techiques to help go threw the track faster, and your own production style.

I just make the part of the tracks where most of the elements are playing together like 64 bars of the main part or so...then I can leave all the simplyfying for the intro etc and structure to be done later

I do the same thing really, for me moving on from the loop stage is a tad bit challanging still. For me its hard to picture how the track is going to come together to that point.

If your having a creative session then don't worry about finishing a track, just use the time to put together many ideas, then when the creativity dries up revisit the ideas and pull together into a track.

On the flipside when I run out of ideas I start sampling records or creating good basses / leads for possible use later on tracks.

I never had problem making a complete track out of my own loop...if it was at least 64bars...for the intro simplify...you've probably done the climax, buildup well...if you can¨t think of any original way, old school will do...outro again simplify but variate...bla bla...I think once you lay most of the ideas you have, you can do easily all the harder work later...

sometimes I even save only an interesting chord progression

A couple months ago i first made the intro and kind of made the song as it went, wich made me really fucking bored with it. Now i start with the main part and try to make that as good as possible. I dont think its anything wrong with having a different melody in the intro, much more variation can be done.

Very nice posts, Thanks for talking serious. I love hearing about how people do things, gives me things i can try. I love junkies way, I get caught up in doing everything at once, than nothing gets done.

i always program the main melody first ,because every thing derives from it

then the pads ,the hooks, the drops,fx,the bass, then i always do the percussion last hope this helps

once you program the main mellody the rest will just flow.
