Available used only. If you're careful & buy sensibly you should be cool buying used. Lifespan is good on these, I've had mine some time now & still perform perfectly.

I gotta stop saying that, it's probably gonna be the kiss of death now!!!

He obviously thought that seeing as they are now the old model, they would be cheaper

I would buy an MK1 over the MK2 because of the Touch Release feature on the MK1, which sadly enough Pioneer took it off on the MK2.

Touch release?

There's the touch/release knob (controlling starting/breaking times, which is on both models) and there's the quick return (which makes it return to the cue point and start playing again when you tap the platter) which is also on both models...

What they DID change (for the worse) between the mk1 and mk2 was they've screwed up the way the deck acts if you've got master tempo on and you do a slow break.

No! The touch release that I'm talking about is different. On the 800 MK1, if you cued a song, and paused it, than just touch the platter, the song will start without having to press play. You don't need the QUICK RETURN activated. If you have the quick return activated, than the song will start from your cue point every time you touch the platter.

You can't do that on the MK2 or the 1000.
