Lately Cubase has been doing this thing alot, the project will start playing really slow and sounds all crunchy and distored, and the cpu is stuck at 100% I upgraded to a pentium D 3.7 ghz recently and I can play songs that were getting cracks & pops on my old setup and cpu usage is definatly lower, but I don't remember this happening? It's happend 3-4 times today..
also, keep in mind to avoid the standard ASIO Multimedia driver. use the ASIO driver that came with your sound card instead
If that's not the issue, i'd try tweaking some of the buffer sizes as Subtle said already, or increasing the latency a bit? or perhaps there is a VST plugin fudging up?

Yea, I'm still using my onboard soundcard but the performance increase was HUGE when using the soundcard one, and not the default.

im using my delta 1010 asio driver. ill try changing buffer size. but i think it is probably a fussy vst.. i use the same ones on all my projects so it would make sense .

Just deactivate the VSTi`s one after another and see which one that makes it.
you can also check the "Cubasesx3.log" (if you are using sx3, of course) in your cubase directory and see if you can get any infos from it

Yeah, It kept happening real frequently till I restarted.
Yea just make sure if it starts happening you restart your comp, it should go away. It starts to happen when you leave cubase on for long time. So it stoped doing it then?
