Best way to setup any kind of monitoring speaker is with your ears level with the median between woofer and tweeter, and in an equilateral triangle to the sitting position. Actual distance from seating position depends on the speaker, small, quiet, speakers should be closer. The closer you go, the "worse" the stereo field will be, but thats not really an issue as you should be mixing in mono.
The "best" way to setup PA speakers is high and angled down. If you have them too low, sound waves are absorbed by the front row audience and the people at the back hear bugger all.
I have Event TR6s, but they are for production. I'm buying a pair of Behringer Eurolives for DJing. Theyre crap, loud and harsh, but the bass blows womens clothes off and thats all thats important.
